Sixteen years ago today, Democratic incumbent President Bill Clinton and Republican challenger Senator Bob Dole squared off on whether or not Americans had become “better off than they were four years ago.” In 1992, Clinton ascended to the White House for his first term, defeating former Republican President George Herbert Walker Bush.
